Boardroom Power Struggle

16th August 2004

Radical's boardroom temporarily became an engine assembly shop last week as some of the Powertec RPA V8 engine components were assembled together to give a first glimpse of what the engine will look like in the flesh.

The heads, barrels, upper and lower crank cases and the combined bell-housing and oil tank were bolted together for the first time.

The final machining and line boring of the crankcase will be completed over the next couple of weeks ready to accept the flat-plane steel crank, which is complete and ready to be installed.

September is the deadline for the engine to run and for Radical to finalise the price of the engine and the new SR8 sportsracer in which it will be installed.

Twenty orders have already been received for the SR8 from around the world, even before the details of the new increased downforce bodywork and engine installation have been finalised. Details of the European SR8 series are expected to be announced shortly.
