An FIA-sanctioned European series, a new Winter Series and wholesale changes to the UK Calendar are planned by Radical for 2008.

The highly successful Radical World Cup is expanding into a six-round, FIA-sanctioned, series, to be known as the “Radical European Masters”.

The fully televised series is planned to run at Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Nürburgring, Hockenheim, Barcelona and Dijon or Le Mans with each driver/team dropping one round of his choice. Classes will be run for the SR8, SR5/SR3 1500, SR4/PR6/SR3 1300, and invited Radicals. A sponsorship package with prize money is being finalised, with novices as well as leading teams being targeted to share the rewards. Single and two driver teams may enter with three 30 minute practice/qualifying sessions and two 50-minute races – plus the opportunity to do fast laps for sponsors. Four of the events will support the Le Mans Series package.

Radical is to expand its racing programme into the winter, with the addition of a "Radical Nevada Series" to be run in the Nevada region of Southern Spain. The six-race, three-round series will run to the European Masters format. The series will be organised by Radical Deutschland and supported by Radical's new Spanish distributor who will organise secure storage for cars and transporters, eanbling teams to attend all three events without the costs and time of transportation to each event. The Radical Nevada Series will run at Ascari Race Resort (Malaga, December 8 & 9), Guadix Circuit (Granada, January 26 & 27) and the new Formula 1 test circuit at Monteblanco (Seville, February 23 & 24). The winter series will open with a practice weekend at Guadix on December 1 & 2.

The new look fully televised “British Radical Cup” will be Radical’s UK flagship series in 2008.

Racing to the same regulations as the Radical European Masters and the Radical Nevada Cup, the British Radical Cup will be open to all Radicals with classes for the SR8, SR5/SR3 1500, SR4/PR6/SR3 1300 and invited Radicals.

Replacing the Radical Enduro Championship, the British Radical Cup will continue to run at the UK’s top circuits within Dunlop’s “Great & British” Motorsport Festivals package. The fully televised series runs to the two times 50 minute format and is open to single- or two-driver teams.

And in the winter, who wants to race at a damp, cold Snetterton when you can fly to Southern Spain and compete in the ‘Nevada’ sun at a sensible cost?” Radical co-founder Mick Hyde explained the thinking behind the changes, “We aim to run the best sportscar racing programme in Europe. Highly competitive European races will be supported by teams from our German, French, Swedish, Portuguese and Spanish distributors; a new cost effective Winter Series in the Spanish sun; and in the UK our new British Radical Cup will guarantee impressive grid sizes at UK circuits. We will put on a focused number of superbly run events, with outstanding hospitality, cheaper entry fees, attractive prizes, and long races – more fun for your pound.

The new class structure will allow all Radical models to compete on a class basis, while an Invitation class will accept “specials” like the 1500cc PR6 and our older Prosports. A Privateer Cup and a Novice Cup will reward new low budget competitors while a staggered duration pit stop will allow the slower cars a chance at overall glory. The winners from each class will be invited to race at Sebring in Florida for a round of the Radical Cup USA. Plans for an upgraded Radical Biduro Sprint Series are still at the planning stage.

Radical Championships have always been at the forefront of sport prototype racing. In the UK we will offer the best British Sportscar racing available – hence the ‘British’ title. Our highly-competitive European Championship will be sanctioned by FIA and will be the official stepping-stone to Le Mans Series and Le Mans 24 hour.
