Radical China Official Launch
Despite unseasonably wet weather in southern China, the Zhuhai International Race Circuit saw the very impressive official launch of Radical China.  A throng of sixty staff, journalists and potential customers were in attendance for the press conference and passengers rides in a fleet of SR3’s.

Radical China owners Paul Ip and William Chen invited Radical co-founder Mick Hyde to outline Radical’s background.  Many were surprised to hear that the Radical logo had been designed by Mick for co-founder Phil Abbott’s range of sunbed tanning products, prior to the pair starting Radical Sportscars in 1996.

Also in attendance for the official unveiling were Chinese film stars Jimmy Lin and Anya Wu, both of whom are looking to race in the forthcoming Radical China Cup.  Both stars drove an SR3 at the end of the day and were highly impressed.  Prior to the drive ex-Radical Enduro Champion, Nigel Redwood and single-seater stars Matthew Howson and John O’Hara took it in turns to give the assembled guests fast laps on a very wet track.

Paul Ip was very pleased with the outcome, “Apart from the weather the day has been a huge success.  Radical are obviously a new phenomenon in China, but I am confident that we will have a full grid of cars at the beginning of next season.  This year we are joining a Chinese Sportscar event and we will launch our own Radical Cup in 2009.

We have taken two orders today and I am confident of another two in the very near future
.”

On his way to China, Mick called in to see Barry and Martin Hope of Gulf-sport Racing.  Mick commented “I was impressed with Gulf-Sport. Barry and Martin are doing a pioneering job of introducing Radical to the Gulf region.  The Gulf Radical Cup is going from strength to strength with grids heading towards 20 cars this year.  At the weekend the Radical Gulf Cup supported the Asian GP2 Series.”
