Radical RPA V8 Stripped

James & Matt re-assembling
the RPA V8
Having performed faultlessly on the dyno, the RPA V8 has been stripped to the last nut and bolt and all parts examined in the minutest detail. A number of minor modifications and adjustments have been made and the engine is well on its way to being re-assembled ready for a third and final run on the dyno planned for Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Project Manager Phil Abbott explained:
"All the initial moving parts showed no signs of wear so we are going to run the engine again for a further 15 hours and take it to it's design rev limit of 10,500rpm. Larger inlet butterflies will be fitted along with the correct injector venturis. The F1 style oil scavenge system worked perfectly and so we have also decided to run a higher oil pressure. The clutch showed some signs of slipping, but the manufacturers are happy that it was simply bedding in.

MBE's Jeff Moore will be in attendance on the Thursday to fine-tune the engine map. We will strip the motor again after the run and then ready the engine to run on our rolling road. The next test is to put the transaxle through its paces".
