UK Cup Stalwart Shakes Down Third SR8
15th March 2010
Long-standing Radical owner Manhal Allos took delivery of his fourth car on Friday, shaking down his brand-new SR8 2.6 at a wet and windy Rockingham test day. The Sollatek driver finished fourth in the Masters class during last year’s Radical UK Cup, previously owning an SR3 before his brace of SR8s.
Although conditions were less than perfect, Manhal found it easy to acquaint himself with the new car, and was soon out-pacing Porsches, BTCC cars and a host of other machinery at the shared test, assisted by former Le Mans Series champion (and Radical’s Nordschleife lap record driver) Michael Vergers.
“This new car will be my 2010 race car, with my older V8 kept as a test and development car,” said Allos. “The weather today is challenging but the car feels great.”
Manhal wasn’t the only Radical driver at Rockingham on Friday. Series newcomers Mark Smithson and Grant Sharman were in attendance, alongside Colin Millar, Darron Anley, Jon White and Peter Osborne.
All are testing in preparation for the start of the Competition Car Insurance Radical UK Cup, and Quaife Radical Clubman’s Cup season opener. This takes place at Rockingham on 10 April. Grid slots have almost completely filled, but there’s still time to enter both series; email Amanda Abbott for more details.
